Holiday Season

Every year we give back with the gift of art for the holidays.

"Jumping The Shark" Art Show

An illustrator and graphic designer from Costa Mesa, Ca.
Inspired by his childhood collection of comic books, cartoons and pop culture elements.
Tocayo states "I wanted to see things that didn't exist come to life in a different way".

"Good Sport" Art Show

As Issued is proud to present "Good Sport" showcasing Sergio Hernandez's story telling abilities.

Sergio's painting are a reflection of the stories he was told as a child or that he has experienced himself.

A graffiti artist, painter and tattoo artist, Sergio is a native of San Diego, but he recalls childhood life

in La Mesa, and weekend trips to Tijuana to visit extended family and draw inspiration.

We are pleased to announce a new exhibition "Tragic Heroes".

Curated by Zach Johnsen, "Tragic Heroes" will showcase illustrative work by emerging artists whose work

encapsulates the idea of the tragic hero.
Both in the subject matter and style, this show will explore how the concept of the tragic hero
is depicted off stage and in art today.
From the suicidal to the self-deprecating, the hero of this show is the tragically ugly,
the miscalculated and ultimately, the loser with the best intentions.
Join us in this Saturday April 6th in celebrating the culture of the under rated.

Grant Brittain Arkitip Zine Release and Photography Installation.

We are proud to announce in celebration of Arkitip's latest zine release with photographer

Grant Brittain, a release signing and photography installation event. 

Please make sure come to the event since it will only be a 2 day event.

While working at the Del Mar Skateboard Ranch in 1979 selling Cokes, Twinkies and miniature golf, J. Grant Brittain borrowed his roommate’s Canon and began what would become a 34 year-long affair with skateboarding, cameras and magazines. He helped found Transworld Skateboarding magazine in 1983 and as the Photo Editor for 20 years, helped build it into the top selling skateboarding mag. He has captured the best skateboarders of the last three decades in photos that have become classics.

He also helped start another magazine in 2003, The Skateboard Mag where he resides to this day.

About Arkitip - Arkitip's beginnings were humble. While the magazine began with a 50 copy, hand stapled run in 1999, those first copies look more sophisticated than most other "zines" you might have considered in the same category. The covers were silk-screened on corrugated cardboard and the docutek used to replicate the black & white art in the magazine rivaled the performance of most offset printers. It had a great homemade feel that was bona fide quality. Excellence in production is still of primary importance to Arkitip today. Artists contributing to the magazine respect this, as they know their art will not be compromised in any way. Today, Arkitip is a hand numbered 4/color art book. The fact that the magazine publishes site specific work at a lower price point than what hangs on gallery walls makes it available to art collectors of all economic levels. Each issue is like an original piece of art in and of itself.
